Mr. Durocher is a new teacher at West Middle School. He teaches 7th and 8th-grade science in the C wing hallway. He has taught science for only a year and he loves it, but he has been a teacher for 4 years. He moved to West Middle School from Walker Charter Academy, Grand Rapids. Mr. Durocher came to West this year because he wanted to teach in the school district that he lived in and went to. I asked him if he would ever consider changing the subject he teaches and he answered with,  “Yes, I would consider teaching another class: PE.”

Mr. Durocher is 26 and is married. His wife’s name is Morgan and they have been married for a little over a year and they do not have any kids. Mr. Durocher said that he would like to have kids someday, maybe a boy and a girl. He became a teacher because he loves working with kids and helping them reach their full potential.

His favorite thing about teaching is he gets to be a kid all day long. His least favorite thing about being a teacher is grading papers, but Mr. Durocher has considered doing something else other than teaching: A realtor. He has always wanted to fix and sell houses.

Mr. Durocher graduated from Canton High School in 2009 and played baseball and wrestled. He went to  Eastern Michigan University (EMU). At first, he was majoring in pre-pharmacy and he then he changed his major to teaching. 

Mr. Durocher played club baseball and volleyball at EMU. Mr. Durocher loves coaching. He is the Wrestling Varsity Assistant Coach at Plymouth High School. His favorite sport to coach is wrestling, baseball was his favorite sport to play, and hockey is his favorite sport to watch. As far as his favorite team goes, you will often see him sporting Michigan apparel. 

As a kid, Mr. Durocher lived in Plymouth and moved to Canton when he was in fourth grade. He occasionally liked school as a kid and his favorite subject was math. He has two brothers, one older and one younger. Mr. Durocher has a better bond with his younger brother because he has been his coach before. He gets along with both of them now but when they were little not so much. He also went to Miller Elementary as a kid. 

On last little-known fact about Mr. Durocher is that he has always wanted to be a firefighter.
