West students just participated in the first quarter PBIS rewards. Most students enjoyed the rewards, but some have ideas to help the next 3 rewards be more interesting.

During the PBIS rewards, students were able to trade in their PBIS cards for a treat, a gift card raffle, or to be entered to play a minute-to-win-it-game. Students enjoyed all the activities that were offered at the rewards.

Caitlin Noe, a 7th grader at West, said she, “Enjoyed seeing people go up and do the challenges.” She wishes that there was a larger selection of snacks because some people can’t have certain foods. Caitlin feels that the PBIS program impacts some students, but not everyone. She enjoyed the rewards, but she felt that they were a little boring at certain points. Caitlin thinks that the minute-to-win-it games were a little boring since they were the same games that were played last year.

Maya Mitts, a 7th grader at West, feels that the PBIS program does impact students because they are motivated to save their cards for the rewards. Her favorite part of the rewards was the treats. Maya likes the treats available and she doesn’t want to change them.

To make the rewards better, there could be more treats available for students, or even change up the snacks each reward. Maybe students would have more fun if there were multiple activities available and they could choose which activity they participate in. If we were to do the minute-to-win-it-games again, many students would enjoy it more if the games were changed up.

Overall, most students enjoyed the rewards and liked the treats. Hopefully, the next rewards will be great if even better!
