Curling up on the couch with hot cocoa and a warm, fuzzy blanket and watching Christmas movies is one of the best things about the wintertime. Here are the must-watch Christmas movies this season:

1. Home alone 1: Home Alone  is the story of 8-year-old Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), a mischievous kid who feels largely ignored by his large extended family. While everyone is preparing for a Christmas vacation in Paris, Kevin gets in trouble, is banished to the attic overnight, and wishes his family would just disappear.

2. Elf: Raised as an oversized elf, Buddy travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs, who doesn’t know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit. Buddy was a baby in an orphanage who stowed away in Santa’s sack and ended up at the North Pole.

3. The Grinch (nonanimated): The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His main source of aggravation comes during Christmastime when his neighbors in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang. When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realizes there is one way to gain peace and quiet. With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas and silence the Whos’ holiday cheer once and for all.

4. Santa Claus 1: When a man inadvertently makes Santa fall off his roof on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place. Scott Calvin is disgusted to learn that his ex-wife, Laura, and her husband, Neil, have tried and failed to break it easy to their 6-year-old son, Charlie, that Santa Clas isn’t real.

5. The Christmas Chronicles 1: The story of sister and brother, Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about.
