Fall is here! This means that the 2018 cider mill season is upon us. Many people will be traveling to Michigan Cider Mills every weekend to make memories and enjoy time with family.

Grace Cheetam, a seventh-grader, talks about her favorite thing about going to ciders mills, “Seeing the animals as a kid and just loving them.”

Mrs. O’Dell’s favorite memories from cider mills are, “My family has a tradition of going to a cider mill every year. We usually like to pick a nice fall morning when the air is crisp and the leaves are falling to the ground. My children love rushing from the pumpkins to the apples, to the corn maze, and finally over to the donuts. It has become a wonderful memory each year.”.

Ms.  Hicks has funny memories at the cider mill, “My favorite memory at a cider mill happened on a day shortly after Ella was born.  Mrs. O’Dell, my sister, and I took all of our three boys and three brand new baby girls to Erwin’s Orchard together. It was a perfect fall day, and we were not at school because we were all on maternity leave!”

Mrs. O’Dell, a mother, a teacher, and a loving person admitted, “…honestly my favorite part is the cider and donuts!  There is something about the warm cinnamon sugar donuts and cider that makes it feel like fall!”

There are so many cider mills out there and sometimes we can’t choose between them, but Mrs. O’Dell was able to choose her favorites “We have so many great cider mills in our area but my favorite has to be Erwins.  It is right down the road from where I live and it has so many great attractions. Pumpkins, apples, barn animals, hay bale mazes, wagon rides, and cider and donuts.” Mrs. O’Dell said “My favorite thing to do at the cider mill is picking out our Halloween pumpkins. Each member of the family gets their own pumpkin so we end up with four that will eventually get carved or painted and set on the porch for Halloween night.” Oh, golly that sounds like a fun time to experience!

When you go to a cider mill everyone loves to get doughnuts and cider, but which cider mills have the best cider and doughnuts around? You decide!
