SJ5K Grows every year!

SJ5K Families.

The SJ5K started in 2011 to support Canton High School sophomore Jesse Lindlbauer, also known as “Super Jess”. Jesse suffered from a near-fatal brain abscess. He had to spend eleven weeks at C.S. Mott Hospital and survived two brain surgeries. The SJ5K raised over $45,000 to help Jesse’s family with medical expenses. Ever since then, the SJ5K fundraiser has expanded and has helped more and more families every year.

The SJ5K has changed so much since 2011. Sarah Glovatsky told me, “Since 2011 we have grown tremendously,” and I can agree. Ever since 2011 they have doubled in participants. Now, they help at least 5 families a year and raise more and more money each year.

Frances Walewski, a seventh grader, states, “It is amazing to see how many people actually show up to the SJ5K.” Former participants talk about how much fun it is to be a part of.
