Chromebook Collection is May 29th!
May 2, 2019
As you may have heard, Chromebooks will be collected On May 29th. Students will turn in their Chromebooks during their social studies class in the media center. The Chromebooks are being collected a week earlier than last year due to the warranty being up earlier and the need to fix them quicker.
We sat down and interviewed the head of the technology department, Mr. Salzer, “We actually, don’t rent the Chromebooks, we purchase them through a, it’s what’s called a spot device window which is run by the state.” The website we buy them from is Inacom. Also, he commented on the fact that Dells, the Chromebooks most students have, are the most popular and need to be collected earlier to be processed for any repairs needed. “…it, would be a lot of money but I don’t know that exact amount,” Mr. Salzer tells us about the cost of buying the Chromebooks.
Teachers also have their opinions on the Chromebook collection. Mrs. Kozler, 7th-grade social studies teacher, comments, “I’d be really happy if they would issue Chromebooks in the fall when we do registration so that everyone can one on the first day of school, that would be more important I think that this last week of school.”
Mrs. Horvath, 7th-grade ELA teacher agrees, “I wish we would have them the entire school year because we’re so used to them and we rely on them and I really have to change the last couple units in my class because we don’t have that technology.” Mrs. Horvath tells us, “It changes the whole routine like I put all assignments on google classroom and students can’t go to that during the school.” Mrs.Kozler, 7th-grade Social Studies teacher, agrees with Mrs. Horvath, “We rely on it, you know kids use it for their textbook, they use it for their journal, and so we rely on them a lot.”
When it’s time to return your Chromebook, you should have a few things. Before you even go down, your teacher will help you log out of your account. One thing you need is your charger in your case, and make sure to take out your ID. Another thing is to make sure you have no extra papers or other things in your case. A friendly reminder is to get in a straight line, be nice, and be patient.

I liked how you took the time to interview multiple people so you could opinions and facts about the topic. If you added a poll about how people felt about when the Chromebooks are collected. Really neat overall!

I really liked how you got an interview with the head of the technology department and that you included the quote about how we don’t actually rent the Chromebooks. “We actually, don’t rent the Chromebooks, we purchase them through a, it’s what’s called a spot device window which is run by the state.”

I like how you took something that not a lot of people know about and should know about and made it an article.
