Mr. Watson is a teacher AND a long-distance biker.   Mr. Watson once rode from Detroit to Toronto! The 700-mile trip took 10 days.  Biking has taught him to deal with a lot of unexpected situations and safety first.

Watson stated he  “was really into long distance-bicycling”, as shown by this trip.  He completed this trip when he was about 28 years old, on a 12-speed road bike.  Mr. Watson stayed in Toronto on his trip. Mr. Watson biked with a group of 30 students and leaders from his church. Watson had heard about this trip through his church, and was eager to go “… [the bike trip] was sort of a big tradition”.   Watson was one of the 6 leaders on his trip to supervise the twenty-five high school students. He prepared for the journey by training three times a week.

Mr. Watson slept in a tent on many campgrounds during his journey. The bikers had a camper with lockers for people to carry their tents, food, water, and personal belongings. The camper even had a kitchen to prepare food! Watson learned, “ SO MUCH! It taught me to love biking even more than I already did.”
