Band Concert Was On November 1st

Henry Kuhns

This week Monday, the band class had a big event, a band concert in WMS’s very own gym to show their music.

There were 82 kids in concert and that is all of the kids from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. There are “five main instruments” that 6th and 7th graders play. The instruments consist of the  Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, and Trombone. The 8th graders can play some “special” instruments, like the Bass Clarinet, Baritone Saxophone, and Euphonium. There is a concert every quarter, making the next concert on Jan. 30th. The theme for that concert will be multicultural music or music from other countries. The theme of the concert was patriotic, and the 8th graders saluted. The band class also played the songs of the armed forces. There were 2 piano solos.

Mrs. Farmer, the band teacher, led it all. “We want to show our product, we practice a lot of days in a row, we want to show what we do,” states Mrs. Farmer. The kids practice the instruments 3 times a week, kind of like their “Homework” from that class. They also practice in the class.
