Veterans Day is on November 11 and there were many tributes in the sports world.  The most exciting of them all was the Carrier Game.  The game was played on the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln an aircraft carrier in San Diego California.  The carrier is currently in service by the US Navy. It’s home to 5,680 sailors and 90 aircraft.

It was an NCAA men’s basketball game between Michigan State and Gonzaga. This is the 6th game played on an aircraft carrier. Michigan State played on the first carrier classic back in 2001. These tributes become increasingly important to people with each new iteration having its own twist.

Another Veterans Day tribute happened during the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions’ national anthem.  This special national anthem consisted of soldiers in uniform and recognizing those who served.  This anthem was a part of the NFL’s Salute to Service campaign.  This anthem was also located on a set in the stadium. This will go down as one of the best sports national anthems in history.

All in all, these are only some of the important tributes around the world to support our veterans.  Sports are taking action in these tributes to make them more well-known.  These types of tributes will continue to be more popular in the coming years.
