INTRODUCTION
Are you in 7th, 8th or even 6th grade? Then this article can help you know what to expect for the 8th grade Washington DC trip on the 18th- 22nd of October.
What happens on the Washington DC trip
The Washington DC trip is to help the 8th graders learn about American history, mainly about the signing of the Constitution. The 8th graders will stop at many places like the Independence Hall, the State Capital, a haunted house/jail, a cemetery, and many memorials. But don’t think they don’t have to do anything because they have to do paperwork as well. The paperwork is about the places that they are visiting. They take a bus to all these places and they stay at a few hotels. This trip happens every year for 8th graders so if you are going into 8th grade or leaving for the trip soon, be excited!
The bus/ hotel
There are 6 chaperones and 1 teacher per bus. The teachers that are going are Mrs. Vaneurwen, Mr. Wells, Mr. Wooster, and Mrs. Steckel. There are 4 buses which is kind of crazy because there’s about 180 students going on the trip. They stay at a few hotels and they are allowed 4 students per room. It is not required to have a chaperone in your room in case you were wondering. On bus one, Mrs. Vaneeuwen is the teacher chaperone. On bus two, Mr. Wells is the teacher. Bus three is Mr. Wooster. And finally bus four is Mrs. Steckle.
Other information you need to know
To all you 8th grade Leon lovers, I’m sorry to say he’s not going on the trip. He cannot go because well, he’s a dog. The 8th graders leave October 18th and come back on the 22nd. It is $850 to go on the trip, but Mr Wooster says it’s an important trip to go on. And it’s worth the money because it’s a “once and a lifetime trip.” The bus leaves at 6 a.m. and returns around midnight. We asked former 8th grade student Dylan Seror and he said it was a very exhausting trip but it was worth it because they learned so much, and everywhere they went was so cool. We also asked some current 8th grade students what they are looking forward to most and the most common answer was the haunted house/jail.
Conclusion
In conclusion, The 8th grade trip might be pricey but it is worth going on and it’s important to participate in. I mean when are you going to get the chance to go to Washington DC with all your friends, share a hotel room, and go to a haunted house/jail? Never. And with your favorite teacher Mr. Wooster!
