The big question: are Stanley Cups overrated? Stanley Cups are thermoses that keep up to 40 ounces of water cold for up to 24 hours. To find out some reasons why the Stanley Cups are so well liked, we asked Stanley owners why they got them. Seventh graders Madison Polocoser and Caroline Walling stated that they like the Stanley Cups more than other bottles because of the easy handle, the long-lasting coldness and warmness, and the amount of water they can hold is enormous. They are also fashionable with a lot of varieties of colors and sizes. The cost of a Stanley is a little on the pricey side but there are many qualities that make the price worth it.
To see what other people think, we also asked Mr. Meyer’s 4th-hour, 6th-grade class to see what they thought about this topic. First, Mr. Meyer stated that “Yes, Stanley’s are overrated. They spill easily and the straw is out in the germy air.” We then asked Mr. Meyer, “Gatorade bottles or Stanleys? Why?” Mr. Meyer stated, “I would prefer a Stanley because I think that it would be more appropriate for a teacher to have a Stanley Cup than a Gatorade Bottle.”
Some students from the class, Colbie Lantz, Lillian Anderson, and Joanna Mathew argued that “Stanleys are not overrated because of the amount of water they hold, the long-lasting coldness, and the good quality with variety for the colors and designs on the cup itself.” Still, some students, like Dwane Stanton and Cairyn Forbes, had a difference in opinion stating that “They do not stay cold, everyone resells them too much, and you can just get a normal bottle for water instead of a Stanley Cup for an even cheaper price that still does the job.”
As you can see, West students had very different opinions on Stanley Cups, but every opinion is important.
