Hello, all! I’m Audrey, and I’m here to tell you about the planet Venus.
First, this planet is the hottest planet in the solar system – with temperatures reaching 900 degrees Fahrenheit! Even though it is not the closest planet to the sun, its clouds capture heat with a greenhouse effect, giving it the temperature it has.
Next, clouds completely cover the planet’s surface, meaning scientists didn’t know the (very dangerous) planet underneath at all until a probe was sent below the clouds.
Also, these clouds are made of sulfuric acid, meaning it’s a bad idea to be on Venus while it’s raining. This rain is corrosive, which spells bad news for any spacecraft under the clouds!
Finally, Venus’s name comes from the Roman goddess of love. There couldn’t be a more ironic name for this planet, since it has many destructive and dangerous secrets under its seemingly harmless clouds.
Well, it seems like we’ve reached the end! Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day!
