The new Anime Manga Club (AMC) just came out and some people might want a little back story. So let’s get down to the basics. What time does it take place? It takes place during lunch and recess. It takes place every two weeks on Monday. How do you eat your lunch? You eat your lunch at the media center, if you are buying lunch you buy and go to the media center. Also if you are a seventh grader you get your lunch the same time the sixth graders do, and head down to the media center.
On Tuesday, December 5th, Charles and Henry, interviewed the west middle school librarian, Mrs. Davies, about the big club. She told me that the club was made up for “fans of anime and manga to hang out, talk about their favorite anime shows and books, and to encourage each other to watch the things that they like. They also make recommendations on manga to add to the library.” Just in case you don’t know what manga is, it’s a Japanese style comic drawn in an anime form. The club consists of 8 8th graders, and 12 6th and 7th graders. The meetings take place every 2 weeks on Mondays, in the library. So if you missed the first meeting, you can always make up for it at the second meeting.
I wanted more information about the origin of the club, so I talked to Aytek Windes, a 6th grader that had the inspiration to start the anime/manga club. “Ever since I started 6th grade I had a vision of starting an anime/manga club. As the year progressed, I noticed a lot of people reading and talking about anime, some people even complimenting me about the stuff I wear. So I decided to start one,” he explained. “Why did you want to start this club,” I asked. He said, “I always wanted a group of people that could talk to me and other people about anime and I wanted to bring us all together into one place to do that.” “How did you start this club?” I asked. “It took around a month and a half but once Mrs. Davies got permission she told me and we brainstormed about what we would do. At first I was stumped but around an hour or two later I got some ideas and jotted them down and everything worked out smoothly. So overall if you have an idea for a club that you know people will like then I suggest you tell the office, they will ask you a few questions and once the club is starting just come up with some ideas about what to do and you will have a successful club!” he said. He also shared that his favorite anime is Demon Slayer, and his favorite manga is Naruto.
In conclusion, the Anime and Manga club is great for those who like Anime and Manga. If you want to join, talk to the office or Mrs. Davies. There are also some great manga books that you can check out in the library. I hope you have a fun time watching anime or reading manga!
