Turn your Overdue Library Books in Soon!

Do you have an overdue library book? They need to be turned in soon as possible because we don’t want lost books! Mrs. Davies gives some information on why books are needed back.

Mrs. Davies states that there is 286 books overdue currently, “Wow, thats a lot of books.” She states that I think the most likely cause of books being overdue are when people need them for a class and forget to return them due to the fact that they rushed out the door and didn’t really process the return date because we have no consequence for it being overdue.

Mrs. Davies continues, “Every kind of book imaginable is overdue, the ones that tend to be overdue the longest are like longer books that take kids longer to read and just forget to renew them.” Mrs. Davies stated that the computer automatically marks a book lost if thet are overdue more than 3 months. She continues with, “So, most of the books that are just marked as overdue right now are at about 3 months, the books older than that now are showing up as fines in students accounts but as long as, they return the books they don’t have a fine you just have to return a book.”

This year there will be a slight change in when Mrs. Davies will want the library books back, “That is a great question this year so, usually the end of the first week of June but because their redoing the whole libray this summer, its probably going to have to be the week of Memorial day. Its going to have to be a little bit earlier this year so, we can get everything packed up.” 

Memorial Day this year is May 27, 2024, which is on a Monday. Instead of the first week of June, it’ll be a little bit earlier, and keep that in mind!
