West Water Fountains

Mason Sokolowski and Ethan Belanger

Over the summer the West staff had put in the new water fountains. West had new water fountains installed. Many kids are happy about this because the old ones didn’t work very well. The new ones work great and they fill your water bottles.

Mr. Smiley, the principal atWest Middle School, stated the reason he put the new drinking fountains in is that he thought it would make the school more appealing and more fun to come to school during the week. He is very happy that the school got the new water fountains. Mr. Smiley received extremely good feedback from students about the water fountains. He thought that the water fountains were very nice, and he has no regrets getting them.  Mr. Smiley got the idea fo the fountains from Schoolcraft College.

The water fountains were created by ELKAY. The cost of the new water fountains normally costs over $1,000 to install just one fountain. Mr. Smiley purchased many of the fountains ELKAY, so ELKAY gave him a deal of $400 off per fountain.

Mr. Smiley believes he’s going to get three more fountains: one in the gym, one in the cafeteria, and one in D-wing. The fountains are currently located in lower B-wing, upper B-wing, and C-wing.

Mrs. Hammoud stated that the students at West were complaining about the water not tasting good. Next, she thought the water fountains wouldn’t get as much attention as they did.  At the beginning of the school year, the fountains were not turned on.

Don’t forget, there is also a new rule at West that all water bottles must be clear because Mr. Smiley and Ms. Hammoud have found students drinking soda, and other things.  Remember to bring a clear water bottle to make the most of these fountains!
