Last March, 97 students set up a bracket for March Madness to compete in a schoolwide competition created by Mr. Majszak to win a free lunch of their choice. Not many people seem to be paying attention to it after spring break, so how is it going now?
Currently, the top 3 contenders are:
3: Liam (seventh grader)
2: Juan (seventh grader)
1: Mr. Calzone
So far, these contenders all have at least 83 points, with Mr. Calzone on top with 89 points. Juan is in second place with 84 points, and Liam is in third place with 83 points. We can safely assume that there isn’t a clear winner, and Mr. Calzone is only up ahead second place by 6 points. If one of their picks wasn’t right, they could lose their chance of winning altogether.
Even though it is a competition, these brackets are created for fun, too.“When I was your age, I would fill out a bracket and just watch the games,” says Mr. Majszak, our 7th grade science teacher, who helped set up the competition. He talked about how doing this challenge is a good way to bring students together in a fun competition.
The competition is, however, getting close to ending. With the final four involving Uconn against Alabama and Purdue against NC State, March Madness will soon come to an end, locking our contenders in place. The stakes are high, and the anticipation for our winner is higher! Good luck to everyone in the challenge…
