If you haven’t seen it, there is a podcast on The Bite! It has been going on for 3 weeks. I asked the creator of this podcast, E’Leena Bullock, a few questions on how she came up with this podcast and other stuff about it.
E’Leena states, “I remember Mrs. Horvath talking about how people were doing podcasts in this class and I‘m like, that would be such a cool thing, and I just started brainstorming ideas. Vivian was talking about doing an unnecessary podcast cause I’m like that would be cool, but again there’s a certain amount of time you could do that for, so I’m like how about we put a spotlight on some of the kids at our school? They are amazing at the talents that they do, and people deserve to hear about them, and they deserve to be seen.” She states that she started the podcast because she sees a lot of potential in the students at our school and wants them to appreciate them. She continues, “I believe that people, these kids should have a spotlight on them cause a whole lot of things people do are on podcasts, TV shows, have TV shows, and I feel like this will prepare them for the world and help them know how to voice and everything else.”
E’Leena states that there is a variety of things that she talks about on the podcast. She states, “I think my favorite one has either been… I love all of them, but I feel like my favorite has either been Riley Zajas, or Meredith Wetzler, or Victor Ngoma, and it is for a lot of reasons. If you are looking for something shorter, and like short, sweet but still inspirational, like that’s a good Sophie Covington, Hala and Ana, and La’Roy because they’re {podcasts are] short. But my thing is, with Riley, she was so, she was just wonderful to work with. She was so inspiring, and not only impacted the listeners, but impacted me, and made me want to make some change. Also for Victor Ngoma, even though it was kinda off, but it was cool to see that other side of him because he is usually sheltered, and he had a lot of good words of inspiration for other people. Meredith Wetzler, it just showed the struggle that she kinda is going through. She has to juggle with school and dance. Dance is a lot to her, so it was kind of, a little bit heartbreaking, but so cool to see that story.”
E’Leena states, “I hope to inspire young ones to do the same, and to give other kids a role model, and for these kids to recognize because anyone can listen to this podcast, and this could be a big change for them, and I feel like they deserve that.”
She states that she thinks working with the kids is the best thing about doing this podcast. She hopes to go to other grades such as 8th and 6th grade to reach out more than just 7th grade. E’Leena states, “I really liked talking to the kids. It’s very interactive, it’s just like talking to a friend.” She recommends this podcast because she believes the podcast helps young people who want to start a sport, a new thing, or are just bored at home. She continues, “It’s a fun podcast to listen to, it’s a fun podcast to get information about, and it’s so cool to see all these kids with the sports that they do like, some of these kids are the top in the country, state, and people like rising stars. That’s why I called the podcast Rising Stars because they are rising stars, and they are going to be big someday, and they also inspire other kids to dream, and dreaming is a big part of life, and in life, you need a dream.”
She adds that she wants everyone to listen to the podcast because it is just an awesome podcast. She states, “It is good to see all these kids. Everyone has a story, and I think people deserve to hear it. I say this all the time on the podcast, and a lot of people don’t ever get to hear that story, and people need to hear it, so listen to the podcast. It comes out every Friday, you can listen to it on The Bite or Spotify, and I hope everyone enjoys it, and gives me feedback.”
