Upcoming Movies in 2024 – Part 2

Welcome back to Upcoming Movies in 2024! Last time we covered IF, Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, and Borderlands. However, we also talked about how there were more movies to cover. Many movies are coming out this year, so let’s cover some more!

Let’s start with The Fall Guy, which funny enough, has already been released. That’s right, it was released on Friday, May 3, the same day that part 1 of this article came out. However, I still would like to cover it, since it’s still in theaters as of May 7. In this movie, a battle-scarred stuntman comes back to the industry after leaving a year before, after a big movie star disappears. However, this turns out to be a much bigger fall than just a stunt. Reviews state that this movie is fun to watch and avoids toxic tropes and stereotypes. 

Next, we have Kingdom of The Planet of The Apes, which also will be released by the time this is published. I am writing this paragraph on May 7, and it releases on May 10. But, I will still be covering it as well. The description reads, “Many years after the reign of Caesar, (The ape from Rise of The Planet of The Apes) a young ape goes on a journey that will lead him to question everything he’s been taught about the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.” This is the fifth installment in the series and is directed by Wes Ball, instead of Matt Reeves, who made the last 2 movies after Rupert Wyatt and Tim Burton. This will also be the longest Planet of The Apes movie, with the theatrical cut being 5 minutes longer than War For The Planet of The Apes.

The third movie that I will cover is The Garfield Movie. Many people remember the cartoon of that big orange cat that loved lasagna, Garfield. Well, this year is the year that we get to see him on the big screen. In this movie, Garfield reunites with his cat father, who draws him into a high-stakes heist. I don’t know what this heist is, but this movie has been highly advertised everywhere. The movie releases on May 24, so we will get to see this cat-astrophic film soon.

Last but not least, we have Mufasa: The Lion King. The sequel to the 2019 adaption of the 1994 film. This movie includes Simba, now king of the Pride Lands. He is determined for his cub to follow in his footprints to be king, while Simba explores the origins of his late father; Mufasa. As far as I know, this movie will once again be a musical, like the past two movies. This movie comes out on December 24, so we’ll be getting some singing lions on the big screen for Christmas.

I said it in the first part, I will say it here. 2024 is a big year for movies. Movies such as Dune 2, Kung Fu Panda 4, and more are great examples. Is there a movie I didn’t mention?
