Can cereal be considered a soup?
We have a burning question for you! Is cereal a soup?
I believe cereal can be possibly considered a soup. My reasoning for this is the following. You got your “broth” in the milk and you have your “fruits/vegetables” in the cereal pieces themselves. Cereal is also usually eaten out of a bowl with a spoon. At certain temperatures, cereal can also become warm. Although it may not be cooked or prepared like a soup, they still have some similar qualities to each other.
Our opposing reasoning for why it is not is this. The definition of a soup is; “a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc., in stock or water.” cereal is in milk, not water. And I would hope there is no meat in cereal. This supports our argument pretty well. Soup is usually a cooked dish, and I don’t really think I want some cooked and melted cereal for breakfast. Nor is cereal cooked or prepared like a soup. Another definition of a soup is any cooked food with a liquid base. Cereal is a breakfast food mainly, unlike soup, usually seen as a lunch or dinner-type dish. So, there you have it. Is it a soup? Is it not? You decide.

Well since you are making me decide. I am choosing that cereal is a soup. Like if the milk if replacing the broth and if the cereal is replacing the veggies, it would technically be a soup but others might think different. great article by the way.

I like how you had a question as the lead.
