Sixth graders–do you need tips on your first year in middle school? If so, this article is for you.
Recently, I had the opportunity to interview 7th grader Jackson Krieger and gather some tips on how to make the most of your first year at West.
TIP ONE: BE PREPARED FOR CLASS– If you want to have everything you need for each period and to be on time, Jackson recommends gathering your supplies ahead of time. He said, “I got my binder for the next few classes I’m going to.”
TIP TWO: KNOW YOUR COMBINATION TO YOUR LOCKER- One of the things that can hold you up and make you late to class is your locker. Jackson’s advice is simple, he says, “Just write the combination, just write that thing down.”
TIP THREE:MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR ELECTIVES– Electives can be some of the best classes of your day. Jackson especially enjoyed STEM. He shared that, “You make a gumball machine with wood and a bowl.” He had a lot of fun!
While Jackson felt that 6th grade was hard at times, he knows that it prepared him for 7th grade. Hopefully these tips will help 6th graders for their first year of middle school.
