I was recently in a class that I was really struggling with, and I was getting ready to switch out of the class. I think I would’ve done way better in the class and struggled less if i did these things.
In the start for sure, I think it would have been helpful if I asked the teacher for some help. Ask for help if you need it even if you don’t like the teacher, or don’t feel comfortable yet with him/her. It is still very helpful if you ask for help when you are struggling.
Next, I think it is important to pay attention to the boring things. Even if you aren’t interested in what you are learning it is still valuable to pay attention or else you aren’t going to know what to do in the class and you won’t understand very much.
Also, it is essential to review work and study daily. Sometimes you do not have time to study but taking 5 minutes out of your day to review work can be useful. It can help to review what you did that day prior to refresh in your mind what you learned that day. And then the next day you can come into class and be ready to learn.
It is also beneficial to have perseverance and grit. A lot of the time school work and school can get overwhelming and hard to keep up and focus. But in order to keep moving forward you have to keep pushing yourself even when you feel like giving up. So even when you’re getting ready to quit and you think you are done, remember to keep going and have perseverance and grit no matter what.
Lastly, is to be around people that actually help you in a positive way. It can get hard because most of the time you either just want to work with your friends or not do any work and just chat/talk the whole hour. In order for you to be successful and get work done you need to work with people that benefit you and have a good toll on your work.
