Artemis is the upcoming space mission that will launch in 2025.
The mission will last 10 days and will have 4 crew members. The reason for the mission according to NASA, “Astronauts on their first flight aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft will confirm all of the spacecraft’s systems operate as designed with crew aboard in the actual environment of deep space.”
There will be 4 Artemis missions and the first one was already completed. According to NASA, “The initial launch will be similar to Artemis I as SLS lofts Orion into space, and then jettisons the boosters.”
The things that the astronauts going on the mission include according to NASA, “While still close to Earth, the crew will assess the performance of the life support systems necessary to generate breathable air and remove the carbon dioxide and water vapor produced when the astronauts breathe, talk, or exercise.” The whole point of this mission is to make sure the space ship will be able to hold the astronauts to prepare for the future Artemis missions.
Why the mission is important according to NASA, “SLS and Orion are critical backbone capabilities, along with the Gateway in lunar orbit and modern human landing systems, that will enable human missions of increasing complexity in deep space.”
Once all of the artemis missions are done, what do you think we will learn about the moon?
