Right now the state of California is facing major fires that are destroying hundreds of homes and more than 150,000 residents. Firefighters nationwide are flying into California to help fight these fires. And it’s not just our country’s firefighters that are trying to help fight these fires, Mexico and Canada have both sent many firefighters to help stop and fight these massive fires because California can’t do it by itself. And it’s not only firefighters trying to stop these fires, about 1000 inmates are fighting these wildfires in California right now out of about 14,000 people fighting these fires. And between the California firefighters, firefighters from all over the country, and firefighters from Mexico and Canada 1000 is a high number, especially for inmates. These fires have destroyed at least 2,000 buildings and “killed at least seven in the Los Angeles area.
The actor Lee Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest who is also an actor, have donated $1 million to “Support wildfire relief efforts.” Paramount also has donated $1 million to first responders. We have also gotten an additional $27 billion to support this recovery which is very needed because we are going to need lots of money and time so we can be recovered during and after these fires finish. But also in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, they are still recovering from hurricanes Helene and Milton which were also supported by money but recovery takes a long time after these natural disasters. But it is an amazing thing that so many people are helping California and help fight these fires.
