Did you know that Katy Perry went to space on Monday, April 14 with 5 other women? It was the first time a rocket with only women has gone to space in the last 6 decades! What’ more shocking is that 5 out of 6 women are not astronauts.
This is all a part of Blue Origin’s plan to make space travel more accessible.“It is the highest high and it is surrender to the unknown,” said Perry. “I couldn’t recommend this experience more.”(Source)
the line to space is internationally recognized legally as 60 miles above sea level, they only went up 62 miles. I think it’s a little cheap to say they “went to space”. They also only were legally in space for 4 minutes and spent a little over 10 minutes in the air.
I consider space to be either much further out or at least being out in space for longer than 4 minutes. They only had a few moments of weightlessness and you can experience much more for much cheaper with other companies.
A lot of people think space is a place for science and not a place for rich celebrities to go for fun. The tickets costed at least $150,000 but almost definitely more which is out of reach for most people that would like to go to space. If space is going to turn into a place for vacations, it should cost less.
