And suddenly the words “I can’t wait” came out of my mouth.
It’s a funny thing, you see, wanting to grow up so fast,
but 8th grade flies,
and high school arrives,
and you realize all that time is gone
within a blink of an eye.
In front of your face,
the time is gone without a trace.
First, it was “Did you see that person at recess?”
and now we are looking at their Instagram accounts on the internet.
But what I think this world needs is to wait
so we can stop and look at what’s around us.
Because you never know why you grew out of your favorite shirt
or why your friends come and go without a blur.
So now I can wait; I can wait for high school.
I can wait when things don’t go my way because
at the end of the day,
the sun will set and rise,
but the memories we have will never die.
So I say wait because you never know when your life will change.
