West Middle School had their first swim meet on March 27th, 2018. We crushed the competition vs. Pioneer with a score of 188-77. The Salem pool was filled with lots of joy and energy. All West Swimmers did their absolute best to try and win the first meet, and they did just that.

Everyone was nervous and excited to kick-off the first swim meet of the season. For the West Middle School 7th graders, this was their first ever swim meet for the West team. Mya Rose and Amelia Orlowski, both thought they did pretty well for their first time swimming on a team. Chloe Pangborn, a 7th grader at West Middle School, has grown a love for swimming after only a few weeks.

Brynn Christenson, a 7th grader says that she enjoys the swim team and that it is a fun sport to play. Although, some kids would’ve liked to change their events in the first meet. Amelia said that she would’ve done a 50 breaststroke than what she did at the first meet. Brynn also says that she likes the sport because its very active and you use your entire body. “I chose to swim because I thought it would be good exercise”. They were both very excited to do the first meet.

Natalie Nelson, a West student tells us that she enjoys swimming because “It’s fun and I get to learn things”. Natalie’s events were a 200 freestyle relay and a female 50 freestyle race. She said that she liked her events because she liked freestyle, and would not want to change them. She was nervous and excited for the meet because it was her first meet ever for the West team.

All West Swimmers were ecstatic to have won the first meet of the season! Hope to win the next! Go Bulldogs!
