The World Series is the biggest series in the baseball season. This event is a 7-game series and the first team to reach four wins is the winner of the entire series and gets to walk home with the title and the trophy. These are the top two teams from the American League and the National League. These games are taking place in Los Angeles, California, and Houston, Texas. Let’s take a look at some of the players from the 2017 season.

The Astros are a team representing the American League in the 2017 world series and here are some stats. Jose Altuve is 5 feet and six inches tall and had 24 home runs and 204 hits in the 2017 regular season. Justin Verlander got traded from the Detroit Tigers mid-season to the Houston Astros. He has had a phenomenal season with the Astros. He had 219 strikeouts in the season. He had 43 on the Astros and 176 on the Tigers. These stats are from http://www.espn.com/.

Many of the Dodgers players had a great season but certain players stick out. One of them is the speedy and athletic Yasiel Puig, the outfielder for the Dodgers. He has had a fantastic season with a batting average of .263. He has hit 28 home runs and  74 RBI’s. Also, he has had an amazing record of 15 stolen bases by the end of the season. He has won multiple gold glove awards for his athleticism and won an MVP (most valuable player) award one time. Another popular player is Clayton Kershaw, the pitcher for the Dodgers. He has made a number of 202 strikeouts and a great E.R.A (earned run average) of 2.31. Kershaw has won a National League MVP award and a Cy Young Award for his great skill of pitching. Mitchell Minier, a 7th grader at West Middle School, is hoping that the Dodgers win the World Series. He was originally rooting for the New York Yankees to win, but the Houston Astros beat them before in the playoffs. So the Dodgers beating the Astros would be kind of like revenge for Mitchell. When asked his favorite player on the Dodgers, he replied, “Justin Turner because he won the Dodgers, Game 1 with a 2-run home run.”

The 2017 World Series will all come down to these 7 games. So, will you say “Go Dodgers!” Or “Go Astros!”
