2019 NBA Conference Finals are in Progress
May 17, 2019
The NBA Conference Finals are in progress and all four teams have played hard to get to this point, but there is only one team that will win 4 games first. Tuesday, May 14 at 9:00 P.M. the NBA Conference Finals started with the Golden State Warriors and the Portland Trail Blazers at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA. On Wednesday, May, 15, the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks played at the Fiserv Arena in Milwaukee, WI.
The game between the Golden State Warriors and the Portland Trail Blazers was one of the most fun games to watch. During the regular season, Portland and the Warriors both went back and forth. Although, the Golden State Warriors went in with the upper hand because of their 4 games at home. Which means Portland only has 3 games at home. According to Darrel Williams II, “Good, I think the Warriors are going to move on in that round.” Excellent prediction from Darrel Williams because the Warriors ended up bringing home the win.
In the first quarter, the Warriors immediately scored even without Kevin Durant, who was hurt due to a calf injury. The Warriors were carried by players Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Points were continuously exchanged between Curry and Klay. The Warriors bench players had a great game, especially Jonas Jerebko with 9 points off of the bench. At the end of the fourth quarter, Curry had 36 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Whereas, Thompson had 26 points. Damian Lillard (point guard for Portland) had a low of 19 points. In the past, Damian would get at least 27 points against the Warriors. The game resulted in a win for the Golden State Warriors with a score of 116 to 94.
The Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks was also one of the most fun games to watch. The most entertaining players are Giannis Antetokoumpo (Bucks) and Kawhi Leonard (Raptors). Giannis is a decent shooter but is very good in the paint. He has a total of 8,745 points throughout his career. In this season alone he’s had 1,994 points. This is only his 6th season in the NBA. Kawhi Leonard is another great player, with a great all-around game. He averages 26.6 points per game. He is ranked 7th in the NBA for points per game. Darrel Williams II predicted that “the Milwaukee Bucks will move on to the Finals.”
The Bucks started off with the lead and then Kyle Lowry hit two 3-pointers to put them up by 1. The game went back and forth for a couple of minutes in the first quarter. Then, the Raptor started to get a lead by 11 at the end of the first quarter. As the second quarter started, the Raptors handled their business. At the end of the first half, the game was 59-51 with the Raptors leading. With 9:10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, the Bucks cut the lead down, which forced Toronto to call a timeout. At the end of the 3rd, the Raptors were up by 7 points. At 8:50 left on the clock, the game was tied 86-86. Toronto shooters went cold with a minute giving time for the Milwaukee Bucks to take the lead and win the game. The final score was 108-100.
