Emily Jacobson was the first to post a video of herself singing her Ratatouille parody. Soon after, many other creators on the app TikTok started writing their own songs in the fall of 2020, when everyone was still stuck in their homes. What started out as simply a joke between many creators on TikTok eventually became an entire Broadway musical, bringing the 2007 film to stages across the United States.

When I sent out a survey, the results came back saying that only 30% of the students who answered have heard of the musical, and only 15% were aware that the musical would be on Broadway. When I asked if students would watch the musical, 30% said no, 35% said maybe, and 34% said yes.

The cast of the musical was released towards the end of December 2020. The cast includes Tituss Burgess as Remy, Andrew Barth Feldman as Linguini, Kevin Chamberlin as Gusteau, and many more.
