West Boys Basketball Loses Tragically to Pioneer in End of Season Game

37-27 was the final score in the  West vs. Liberty Boys Basketball final game of the season on January 31st. Mr. Wells basketball head coach stated in regards to our last game, “I believe in our offense some players wanted to run it but others chose that was not best for them.”

Many of the boy’s basketball players were frustrated with the turnout of the last game. Amare Horsley, boys 7th-grade basketball player, stated, “The last game went okay. We missed opportunities that we should have capitalized on.”

The boys went 2-6 for the season their only wins were against East and Pioneer (Pioneer was a technical win via covid). Mr. Wells stated that “I believed we had much more potential in practice than we showed in-game”

Mr.Wells has been coaching basketball here at the west for 7 years so it’s easy to say he knows his stuff. The eighth-grade team went 2-6, with their final game ending in 32-50.

Mr. Wells feels good about next year’s eighth-grade team. Charlie Fuller boys 7th-grade basketball player stated that “We knew that Pioneer was a really good team, but I think we worked through it and gave it our best effort.”

Hopefully, the West boys basketball season will go better next season and we will go 8-0. GO WEST!
