What is the most popular book genre at West Middle School? What is the most popular book? We wanted to find out what the most popular book genres are and what the most popular book is. We interviewed 55 different students and staff at West Middle School, and here is the information we collected.
Reading is so important to some people. We are doing this to help find books for people who don’t know what to check out.
“I like reading to kinda escape from the world around me and that’s where I can best find those kinda stories to kinda get away from everything else.” -Mr. Fisher.
The book genres that were most popular were: Romance, Fantasy, Realistic Fiction, Non Fiction, Horror, Graphic Novel, Sci-fi, Drama and there are many more but these are the ones students and staff said they liked the best.
So, time to get to the most popular genre. The most popular book genre was Realistic Fiction. Realistic Fiction got 17 votes. People said that this was their favorite genre because of the story line and that it is relatable. Caroline Houser, a 7th grader at West, said “I can relate to the books, and if I can it is interesting to see the person’s perspective.” The second most popular book genre was Fantasy with 10 votes. People said they like this type because it seems like a dream or a fairy tale came to life. In third place is Romance with 5 votes. People said they like it because it is “a deeper story and it is more than a walk in the park,” Meredith Wretzler, 7th grader at West.
The most popular book by far was, “The Summer I Turned” Pretty by Jenna Han. People said they liked it the most with their favorite book genres being realistic fiction and romance. This book is favorited by all the different grades and some of the staff too.
