The West Middle School wrestling team will have their first meet next Thursday against Discovery. We are on the West Wrestling team and we think that it will be really fun this year.

West student and Wrestler, Aydin Khalil, who is fasting for Ramadan, has to go to the practice on an empty stomach. We asked him how he does it and he said, “I just fight through it, so like if I have any pain, then I will fight through it.” We think Aydin is brave for doing this. 

We also asked another wrestler, Nic Perna, and this is his first year wrestling. We asked him how he liked it and he said, “I think it is good, it is very interesting.” He also said, “It is a very fun sport and I look forward to it every day.

West Wrestling is a contact and competitive sport. Every practice, the team starts off with multiple exercises, like cartwheels. Afterwards, we talk about how we did that day and about how we can improve. Then, we learn a new wrestling move and practice it for most of the day. We end with something fun, like a game or live wrestling.
