West Wrestling’s last meet was on Tuesday, April 2 against Liberty Middle School. West wrestlers thought that they did not meet their expectations and ended up losing the meet.
West’s Coach Sloan hoped for all of his wrestlers to just do their best. After a rough start to the season, the West team was not expecting to win this match. Many of the team’s wrestlers are new. Coach Sloan focuses on learning and challenges his wrestlers to compete against people better than them.
Although we had some wins we did not think that that was going to be our best meet. We have asked an 8th grade wrestler Donovan how long he has been wrestling for and what advice he would give to a beginner wrestler. Donovan said he’s been wrestling for 3 years and he’s liked it so far.
Also, said to stay low when asked about advice for beginner wrestlers. When he said stay low, he meant get in a position where the opponent can’t grab your legs.
