Climate Change…what is it?

Climate change is real and it’s happening fast. People are contributing to climate change by letting out carbon dioxide from gas powered machines into the earth’s atmosphere. The earth’s atmosphere absorbs carbon dioxide and it stops the earth from letting out heat into space. The heat that is stored in the atmosphere reflects back into the earth causing it to get warmer according (National Geographic-Kids).

Animals are affected by this change too. For example, seals are being affected. The seals can’t come out of the water onto ice because there isn’t any ice. Due to the ice not being there and the seals not coming up to breathe, the polar bears do not have a food source because the seals are dying off.

Another consequence of climate change is that our sea levels are rising because of melting ice and water expanding when temperatures rise. They are rising so fast that the coastline of Miami, Florida could be underwater in just 30 years!

Climate change is affecting animals and humans and we need to stop this!
