There are three West Swim coaches this year, Heather Colombo, Dave Workman, and Bob Cummings. The swim season starts March 11, 2019, and practice takes place at Salem High School from 4:45-6:00 pm. For those of you who are undecided about joining the swim team, you should look forward to this writing piece.  Let’s dive deeper!

Coach Heather Colombo is the President of the Teachers Union and has held this position for a year and a half. Ms. Colombo has a degree in elementary education with math and science. Coach Colombo states, “I have coached for 13 years in Plymouth-Canton.  I have coached at Central MS, Pioneer MS, and a majority of the time at West.” Coach Colombo used to be a science teacher here at West and taught in Mr. Fisher’s room from August 2004 to June 2017. Colombo has been swimming since she was eight years old and even swam in high school. Ms. Colombo played beach volleyball in the summer and loves to watch football. She also likes to travel to a lot from different countries, go to the movie, and spend time with her friends. Coach Colombo is forty years old and attended Mercy High School. Coach Colombo likes coaching because it keeps her “connected to the students” and she also loves to swim.

Last year’s WMS Swim team was 5-0. West scored second at the League Meet. Ms. Colombo’s favorite memory is when students cheer for other people that are outside of their normal social circle.
