West Catholic Plays on Ford Field

Lucas Lichtner, Reporter

Have you ever seen a football game? The sheer size of the stadium is jaw-dropping and I experienced the size of the field firsthand playing on it. My Football team (West Catholic) was invited to play an exhibition game kind of like a bowl game with a running clock so everything was fast.

5:30 I wake up and I am extremely excited but also tired. I imagine what Ford Field will be like. I have never been in a dome before for football or any sport. I get my jersey on my shoulder pads and stuff my helmet between my pads. I am already.

6:15 I get in the car we are ready to leave I am still imagining getting a sack, pancake, or even just a tackle on Ford Field. I know this will go quickly so I am ready to take it in even if is still an hour before we are even inside the facility.

7:00 We get to the south entrance and were in line to get in. It’s freezing outside. All were in tank tops and undershirts. We are listening to music trying to get hyped because we are going to play on Ford Field.

7:15 We are let into the stadium first because we are the first game. We gather or self and we are walking down to the field. I see the stands I am surprised at how full the stands were because there were other teams playing there. I walk onto the field and take it in.

The Bright lights beam down on my helmet and here is the booming noise of the speakers. I see the big Pepsi cylinder outside of the stands. We get to the bench and warm up on Ford Field. We play our game and win. I say good luck to the other teams and Leave. A moment I will never Forget.
