West students and many other kids cooped up at home can forget to stay physically active over the long Corona-Break. Staying fit and active can have significant positive impacts on depression, anxiety, ADHD, stress, memory loss, restless sleep, and your mood. If you aren’t already doing your own exercise activities, here are 5 simple exercise activities that you can do right at home or outside while social distancing.

Kids should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.  Here are 5 activities you can do for twelve minutes to get the full 60 minutes.

  • Go for a jog down your sidewalk

  • Take a bike ride around your neighborhood

  • Pass a ball around or play a sport with your family

  • Do yoga or other types stretching inside or outside

  • Have a dance party with your family

Kat Stewart, a 7th grader at St. Francis Middle School in Ann Arbor, says, “ To keep active, I play volleyball and basketball outside and occasionally I will go for runs.”

Make sure to stay safe, wash your hands frequently, social distance, and keep your mind and body active.
