West Band Virtual Concert

This year with virtual it’s been hard to learn for any subject, but even harder for the band. Last year the WMS 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade bands played a stunning virtual concert with music they had learned in person before the shutdown. This time it’s different. The 8th-grade band has risen to the challenge and has learned “Armed Forces Complete”, absolutely virtual.

Every year the WMS 8th grade band has played the “Armed Forces Complete”, a collection of military and coast guard marches,  for an audience in the gym. When their march is played veterans are asked to stand. It’s an awesome tradition that everyone can be proud of. This year it cannot be played in front of a live audience so every student recorded their part that will be edited together for the final recording.

This year, once the final recording is finished, it will be sent to a local veterans hospital. Most celebrations on veterans’ day are for the people who walk in parades, but the veterans who put their life on the line to serve their country are stuck in hospitals with no visitors due to COVID-19.
