Due to a weak La Niña pattern, Michigan could receive more snow than usual.
La Niña is when water gets colder. This changes how all the air moves around the world, including Michigan.
So what does that mean for us? I think this means we might have no school one of these days during the month of December.
Michigan’s cold weather is primarily due to its Northern continental location. Michigan is located in the mid-Northern latitudes of North America. This position means it receives less direct solar energy, meaning which is half of the reason why Michigan is so cold right now.
The La Niña is a weather pattern that happens when the surface of water meets the eastern Pacific Ocean which makes the weather unsally cold. The La Niña influences pushes colder weather northern and warmer weather southern.
