As you probably know the World Cup kicked off  Sunday, November 20th. Although this is exciting because the World Cup occurs every four years, this will be the last World Cup for many players that have been star players over the years. In this article, I will be going over a few of the best players that will play their last world cup this year.

Lionel Messi: Lionel Messi is arguably one of the best players of all time. He plays for Men’s Argentina National team. He has scored over 750 goals in his career. He has more than 340 assists in his career. Messi has played for two teams during his career. The first team he signed with was FC Barcelona. He is now playing for PSG, Paris Saint-Germain. A cool fact about Messi is that he is the all-time leading goalscorer in La Liga and also has the record for the most assists. Messi has also won the Champions League four times. Messi is 35 years old. Even though Messi is playing his last World Cup maybe he can win.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Ronaldo is also arguably one of the best players of all time. He plays for the Men’s Portugal National team. Ronaldo has scored over 800 goals in his career. He has also had over 250 assists in his career. Ronaldo has played for four teams in his career: Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Manchester united. Ronaldo has won the Champions League five times. Four times with Real Madrid and one time with Manchester United. Ronaldo is also the all-time top goalscorer and assists provider in the Champions League. Ronaldo also won the EURO cup in 2016. Even though Ronaldo has fallen short many times maybe he can win the World Cup this year. 

Manuel Neuer: Manuel Neuer is one of the best goalies of all time. He plays for the Men’s Germany National team. Since Neur is a keeper he has yet to score his first goal in his career. Neuer also has zero assists. He has played for two teams in his career:  FC Schalke 04 and FC Bayern München. Neuer has won two Champions League titles with FC Bayern München. Neuer has won many trophies in his career. A nine-time Bundesliga champion, six-time DFB Cup winner, two UEFA Champions Leagues, one FIFA Club World Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, six DFL Supercups, and to top it all off, that prized FIFA World Cup title from 2014. Can Neur win another World Cup one last time?
