Sadly, this blast of the past, long awaited show, is coming to an end. Stranger Things season 5 dropped on November 26, 2025 and has blown up since. Here’s what you need to know.
(PS: Has spoilers)
A Little About The New Season
This is the final season of many childhoods. Season five tops off the glass we know as Stranger Things. The fifth and final season is split up into three parts over three months. The first part started on November 26th just before Thanksgiving, the second part is being released on Christmas, and lastly, the final episodes are being dropped on New Years.
Be prepared. The holidays will be rough as the DnD group finally put an end to Vecna’s madness (hopefully) and seal the Upside Down off. Since it is the final season, I know as well as everyone it will be cruel.
In my opinion, I think the first four episodes were awesome! We finally get to see more of Robin, which may be bad to her plot… but at least she’s there for now. I also love the new adaptation to Holly’s character. There’s just something about the Wheeler women that I love. Nancy Wheeler is strong in battle, Karen Wheeler will do anything for her children, and now I’m seeing Holly will do anything to help her friends and be a better person. I am scared for Steve though, he isn’t getting much screen time, and when he does it’s only parts where he’s showing deep emotion. I think the Duffer Brothers might kill off his character. He is a fan favorite after all.
A Refresher Of The Past
Season one starts off in Hawkins Indiana with Will Byers going missing after playing a game of DnD with his friends and losing to the demogorgon. When his mother, Joyce, reports to the police that he’s missing, they send out a search party and find his bike and a piece of a hospital gown. On this trail to find Will they discover the upside down and Hawkins Lab. A place where kids are taken and done experiments on… but Will isn’t there. Meanwhile, Will’s friends: Mike, Dustin, and Lucas go out looking for Will but come across a runaway girl, Eleven, who has crazy supernatural powers. She tells them about the upside down and that Will is down there. The group has to work together to defeat the real demogorgon and save their best friend.
Shortly after Will has been found, season 2 begins, There is a new monster after Will Byers… The Mind Flayer! Which uses will to spy on other people in Hawkins and spread influence. The original group, along with other characters like Nancy, Steve, Jonathan, Hopper, and Joyce, start to notice odd occurrences, like rotting pumpkins. On the side lines, Eleven now lives with Hopper and is trying to find herself. Also, a new set of characters are introduced: Max Mayfield, and Billy Hargrove. They are step-siblings who both hate each other.
This leads us to season three. Billy gets affected by the mind flayer like will and goes haywire. The Mind Flayer targets Eleven in the big fight at Starcourt Mall, but Eleven can’t define herself because she lost her powers. Max has to help get the mind flayer away from her brother but it ends up killing him in the end. The main group along with the other adults have to deal with previous matters like sealing the upside down off again. One of the devastating moments is when Hopper seemingly dies but helps to seal the Mind Flayer off from the people of Hawkins. The season comes to an end with Joyce, Jonathan, Will, and Eleven moving away from what devastation memories are in Hawkins.
Season 4 begins with showing how the groups are separated. The Byler family is in California while the Wheelers and others stay in Hawkins. Again, a new monster, Vecna, has risen and come out to get the group of teens and other teenagers with deep-seated trauma. While the main group is investigating the monster. Joyce sets out to find Hopper, who has sent a message to her telling Joyce that he is indeed alive and stuck in a Russian prison. A few of the main occurrences are that Dustin, Lucas, and Mike meet Eddie, a super-senior and a DnD leader. They join his campaign and become great friends with him, pulling him into their mess. Eddie ends up in the underworld trying to help warn off Vecna from the kids… and dying from getting eaten by bats. Another main occurrence is when Max gets trapped by Vecna and escapes to the song “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, but ends up in a deep coma. The wheelers come back and re-unite but there is an even bigger problem. Hawkins is being destroyed. This leads us into season 5.
What Inspired The Duffer Brothers To Make Stranger Things?
The Duffer Brothers are twins, Matt and Ross Duffer. When they were little they loved watching movies on their VHS, and had an admiration of filmmakers like Stephen King and John Carpenter. They got a gift of a Hi8 camcorder one year which sparked interest to create films and they started making little videos to make their favorite games into movies. They especially had a thing for things like movies from the 1980’s.
This ties into why they made Stranger Things. The brothers wanted to tell a story of ordinary people experiencing out of this world things. They created this sci-fi, horror series to capture what they thought of and made as a kid. Their original idea was a short series called Montauk, based on a missing child and a monster. Sounds like Stranger Things?
I hope you enjoy the new season just as much as I do. I can’t wait for the next part of season 5! Have a great watch!

I’m so sad it wasn’t, but I think that it was in one of the cut scenes from volume 2, so I’m not that sad bc it basically happened, I just didn’t get to see it 🙁
