Reasons For the Friday Five’s Rebrand

So, it may have come to your attention, if you are a frequent visitor to thebite.org, that we are renaming the Friday Five. We ran a poll with various names for the Friday Five, such as “The Bulldog Buzz”, “West Weekly”, “The Friday Fill” ect. The poll was open for a while, and you could vote for the name twice. For example, you could vote for both “The Friday Fill” and “The Bulldog Buzz”.

What reason do we have for this, though? Well, the journalism team noticed that a lot of the Friday Fives were much longer than five minutes, and that we always seemed to have more than five stories. We decided that the best thing to do would be to keep the length of the Friday Fives longer than five minutes, and to simply rename it instead, so that we didn’t have to decrease the number of stories in the Friday Five or limit the film time.

As of the time that I am writing this article, the Friday Five for the week of March 2nd to March 6th has not yet been released. Not to worry, though, we have reached a conclusion on the new name for the Friday Five. The new name will be revealed in the Friday Five of March 6th, 2026!
